Creating Beautiful Bedrooms for Children to Thrive

Five Siblings Sharing A Room

Before

Five young brothers and sisters slept on the floor in this small room.  There was very little clothing storage.  This space measured only 9’3″ x 9’2″.  It would need to become a nice room for 3 sisters.

We painted the room a soft pink with grey undertones and freshened the trim with white.   We purchased a sturdy bunk bed with a pull out bed below, so each sister now has her own bed.  New bed linens, pillows, duvets and duvet covers provided comfortable sleeping.  We hung 2 pink polka dot panels that one of our volunteers created from a queen sized duvet cover.   The panels are held back with clear butterfly clips.

A solid wood chest of drawers gave needed vertical clothing storage.   Lots of sturdy plastic hangers for the closet means school clothing can be seen and selected quickly in the morning.   Two simple wooden shelves are a great place to display stuffed animals.  We were unable to fit a desk into this tiny room but we left some school supplies which the girls were using when we left.
