Creating Beautiful Bedrooms for Children to Thrive

14 Year Old Girl Gets A Beautiful Bedroom

This room was in the basement apartment of a small bungalow.  It needed further construction, which the landlord was not willing to complete.

Before

The closet lacked a shelf and the molding to frame the door.  The door had been taken off by a previous tenant. The baseboards were missing. This girl’s dresser had a damaged surface and needed both paint and some drawer pulls. Her bed frame lacked exterior support and moved easily.

The molding was also missing from the door into the bedroom so there was no privacy, even with the door closed.

A number of the ceiling tiles were either broken, missing or stained.

First we sanded, primed and painted the walls in her favourite colour, purple.  Then baseboards and door moldings were painted and installed.  The closet door was cut to the proper size and rehung.  The dresser top was scraped and sanded and the whole piece was primed and painted a bright white.  It was topped with a small purple runner.  A wicker framed mirror and a lovely lamp with a purple shade complete the room.  The recipient was also pleased to have a desk where she can draw and read.

A white sleigh bed with drawers beneath provide a new, strong bed frame and lots of storage.  New bedding and pillows add comfort and look great.
